Offering leadership training to broadcast engineers has long been a commitment of the SBE, and this year is no different. Instructing this course for the third year is Rodney Vandeveer, a Professor of Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue University. He brings more than 30 years of industrial and business experience in management positions in human resources, training and development and manufacturing. This highly interactive course includes discussions and group exercises on various workplace scenarios. Specific subjects include a self-assessment, generational differences in the workplace, managing conflict, leading change, and much more. The cost for SBE members is $590 and $640 for non-members. Each year, the Ennes Educational Foundation Trust offers three scholarships to those who aspire to a career in the technical aspects of broadcasting. Scholarship awards are available for tuition, room and board, textbook costs, or technical training program fees approved by the SBE Scholarship Committee. Preference is given to applicants who are members of the SBE; however, any eligible individual is encouraged to apply.
